PSC: Both Cars finished in the points
25-05-2008
"After all it was a very difficult weekend for me", Jiri Janak said after the fifth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Monaco. "Especially the qualifying on Friday went not as good as I expected. 15th position in the starting grid was a little disappointing for me. The car was really good, but I was not aggressive enough and so I missed to put all sectors in a row for a better lap time", the Czech said self-critical.
On Sunday, the race on the 3.340 kilometres long street circuit took place under wet conditions and for safety reasons it was started behind the pace-car. "Because of the difficult conditions it was a really tough race", the 24-years-old Schnabl Engineering pilots said. "To avoid a contact with the crash barriers of the narrow circuit I was a little bit more careful as usual. Nevertheless, at least I was able to improve two positions and to claim some valuable points for me and my team Schnabl Engineering."
"The conditions during the race were very tough", Darryl O'Young said after the 15 laps in the Rain. "I started really far from behind in the grid and because of the spray that was coming up it was really hard to see the circuit. However, the handling of the car was really good, we found the right setup for the wet and I had some good fights during the race. After all I am satisfied with the result", so the 28-years-old Schnabl-Engineering Pilot, who finished 15th, but because of a guest starter got two championship points for rank 14, said.
"We expected a lot more from the qualifying in Monaco and I think at least the car was able for a better position in the starting grid. Unfortunately both drivers couldn't bring it to the point", Sven Schnabl commented the timed session in Monaco on Friday. "Because of the rain on Sunday morning we changed to a wet setup. Jiri Janak as well as Darryl O'Young agreed that the car was good under these difficult conditions, what also was proven by the lap times both could drive. Unfortunately it is almost impossible to overtake in Monaco. So we finished 13th and 15th . At least we are happy that we could collect some championship points", the team manager says. After the race in Monaco, the team Schnabl Engineering directly travels to France. "We are now going for a two day test to Magny Cours. We got a lot of things on our plan to try out and to test. With the outcome of the test in Magny Cours the team as well as the drivers hope to make a decisive step forward in the second half of the season."
