8th round Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup - Budapest (HUN) Successful weekend in Hungary

With an overall good team performance Schnabl Engineering / Parker Racing returns home from the eighth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in the context of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Hungary. For the second time within seven days, both pilots of the team finished a round within the positions for points. While Tim Bridgman after a turbulent race came in tenth, Thomas Messer crossed the finishing-line as fifteenth.
At first the start into the weekend did not proceed promising, though. "This was more a disappointing session for me and the team", Tim Bridgman comments on the fifteenth rank after the qualifying on the bendy, 4,381 kilometres long Hungaroring. "The car has felt excellent but I somehow have not managed to convert it in a reasonable lap time. However, I am not sure if I only missed to put it all together, or if my Porsche was overall good, but not good enough for a quicker lap.”

One day later in the race I went better for the Englishman. “My start was brilliant, but than there was some trouble in front of me, what at least ended in an accident. I tried to pass the scene on the inside, but it was a wrong decision, because I lost some positions against the opponents who tried it on the outside side”, Tim Bridgman describes the situation of the turbulent first corners of the race. “After the safety-car, when the race was on again, I started to attack Sascha Maassen, but I came under pressure myself and then had to defend tenth position against Robert Lukas until the finish line. At least it was a race, with which I am altogether satisfied with.”

Thomas Messer also appeared content after fifteenth rank and another two points on his account. “After the qualifying I felt a little disappointed about the 21st position, but today it went a lot better for me”, the merchant from Germany was happy after the 14 laps on the Grand Prix Circuit in Budapest. “Primarily my start was good, I immediately improved positions. However, to find a way around the accidents in the first corners, I had to go through the dirt and so I dropped back to the end of the field again. The result is satisfying; even I could have been better today.”

"We finally had some luck this weekend. Neither Tim Bridgman nor Thomas Messer were involved in the accidents of the turbulent first lap”, team manager Sven Schnabl appeared happy after the chequered flag in Budapest, but he was also self-critical. "Concerning the pure race speed we can be satisfied, but the overall performance at the weekend could have been better, though. Regarding this matter we hope to make some progress in the remaining two rounds of the championship."

The next and second to last round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is delivered after a four weeks summer brake in Spa (BEL), on August, 29th.
