7th round Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – Hockenheim (GER) Both drivers in the points

At the second home race of the team Schnabl Engineering / Parker Racing within two weeks, both pilots managed to finish in the points. While Tim Bridgman in the seventh round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup ended up on rank thirteen, Thomas Messer finished the race on the 4,574 kilometre long Hockenheim Grand Prix Circuit on a good seventeenth position.

The disappointment was written in the face of Tim Bridgman after the timed practice at the Grand Prix in Hockenheim. The gap of the Brit on the best time was only 0.882 seconds; nevertheless, at the end his lap time was only good enough for twentieth position in the starting grid. "What shall I say? It is unbelievable how close the field is together here in Hockenheim”, the Englishman commented on the enormous competition in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

Next day on Sunday it went a little better for the reigning champion of the Carrera Cup Great Britain. “I had the best start of the season so far and could improve numerous positions already on the first meters”, Tim Bridgman was happy about the initial phase of the 14 laps of the race. "Unfortunately, I then have damaged me the front splitter in the heat of the first corners and with that the aerodynamics of my car was gone. I had to push very hard to keep pace with the drivers in front of me. However, after all I could save thirteenth place to the chequered flag and with that I collected some further points for the championship."

"A pity, I had expected a reasonable better result in the qualifying today", Thomas Messer commented on the timed session on Saturday. "Something with the car was different than on Friday, so I didn’t feel confident today. I hope that this will change again for the race on Sunday."

The hopes of the merchant were not disappointed. Started from 24th position in the grid, Thomas Messer soon found a good rhythm, remained free of faults and moved up to seventeenth rank until the chequered flag came out. "Everything went perfect today; this race was quite a pleasure. I think I have made a large step forwards today, the progress is clear to see", rejoices Thomas Messer, who for his courageous drive was rewarded with another two championship points.
"Altogether I am satisfied with the performance of our pilots", team manager Sven Schnabl strikes a first balance. "Tim has begun very well in the qualifying. At the end the gap to the best time was only about 8/10 of a second. Due to the fact that the field was really close together in Hockenheim, it was unfortunately only enough for 20th position in the starting grid. His start was simply brilliant, but then someone in front of him was hard on the brakes and he damaged his front splitter”, so team manager Sven Schnabl. “Since we had a problem with the setup, Thomas Messer was beaten below value in the timed session. However, he delivered a strong performance in the race. Congratulations for this effort!”

Already at the next weekend Schnabl Engineering / Parker Racing travels to the next round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Budapest.
