1st and 2nd round Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup - Bahrain Ranking second in the rookie standing after the season opener

With a promising eights rank by the champion of the Carrera Cup Great Britain the team Schnabl Engineering/Parker Racing returns home from the season opener of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Bahrain. Tim Bridgman was second best of the Supercup newcomers at the Arabian Peninsula. It was a successful start of the German/British team alliance in the fastest makes cup of the world.

„Considering that the cooperation of Schnabl Engineering and Parker Racing was decided just a few days before the start of the new Supercup season, we can look back to first weekend in Bahrain with satisfaction", the two team managers Sven Schnabl and Stuart Parker agree. With the 23-year-old Irishman Niall Breen and the 24-year-old Brit Tim Bridgman the team competes with two 450hp strong Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the ten rounds of the 2010 championship.

Both pilots contest the first season within the environment of the Formula 1. Bridgman is the reigning champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain, while Breen has changed from the Formula 3 Euroseries into the Supercup.

„Due to the fact that both are newbie's in this tough makes cup, and before had almost no testing, they have made a great job in their first races", Sven Schnabl praises his two rookies. "Primarily Tim (Bridgman) has improved continuously over the whole weekend, and with rank eight in the second race of the championship on Sunday, he handed in a remarkable result", says Stuart Parker.

In the circle of 25 drivers, the two pilots covered midfield positions in the qualifying. In the two races with ten laps each, both rookies then proved their talent, though. "Niall has driven a solid race on Saturday. On Sunday - after he was hit by an opponent - he unfortunately had to retire already in the second lap by a broken clutch caused by the incident", Sven Schnabl judges the performance of the up-coming talent promoted by Porsche. "It's not an easy game in the Supercup, but the races in the environment of the Formula 1 give much pleasure", Breen looks back on his first weekend. "If we can use the six-week break up to the third round in Barcelona for testing, we should make a considerably step forwards."

Team-mate Tim Bridgman also sets his hopes on a good preparation for Barcelona. "Nevertheless, the weekend in Bahrain provided a lot of good things already", he says. "We have primarily been able to improve continuously and were awarded with the eighth rank, what in the end was a quite good result against all the experienced drivers of the Cup."

Bridgman delivered a great race and a good performance. The pilot from Stansted handed in remarkable fighting spirit and among others had some hard battles with the Supercup champions Patrick Huisman and Alessandro Zampedri, as well as with the former Porsche works driver Sascha Maassen. "The competition in the Supercup is very tough, no-one makes you presents", he comments on the fights. "Considering all these circumstance we can be very satisfied with the team performance."

After a six-week break the 3rd round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup takes part in the context of the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix in Barcelona, from May 7th to 9th.
