The weekend had a rough start for the team of Schnabl Engineering/Porsche Centre Siegen. During the first free practice, the Cologne based Christopher Brueck finished with his Porsche 996 GT3R Cup in 18th position. "The third gear got stuck in the gearbox, a failure which does not happen quite often in the Porsche Carrera Cup Cars." explained the 20-year old. The fortunes turned quickly however for Brueck after the second practice. This time wet, the number 17 Porsche moved to the top of the timing lists but later got dropped back to third. "With my wheels I passed the curbs in the chicane, which they called a short cut," commented the youngster. " This is not really a problem for me I can live with third position really well". At qualifying on Saturday he finished in ninth position, a position which nobody in the team was happy about. "We were hoping for a position around place five, but unfortunately Christopher could not manage to do a perfect lap", said team owner Sven Schnabl. "We will see what we can improve for tomorrow!" On Sunday, with a crowd of spectators 70,000 strong, Christopher got away great at the start and moved straight into fourth position. "I had a brilliant start, at the beginning I could hold my position, but than I had to give way to Roland Asch and Joerg Hardt which both have been faster than me. At the end of the race I put some pressure on Roland, passed him but he could manage to pass me again a few meters later as I could not engage 3rd gear properly that time", Christopher explained about the race. "With sixth place at our home race we can be happy. The result shows the good work of Christopher and the whole team. I hope we can improve again at the next races as well." explained team owner Sven Schnabl.
